Faux Sheepskin Fabric by the Meter

Soft and warm, with a fine sheepskin fabric as lining or even as outer fabric, you can easily withstand frosty temperatures. The fine curls of the faux fur fabric resemble the soft fur of its namesake and convey a feeling of coziness.

We offer you various faux fur fabrics, but if you ever can't find the right fabric or are unsure about the fabric selection, feel free to use our fabric consultation service. We are here to help!

Important Features and Manufacturing of Faux Sheepskin Fabrics

The fine plush fabrics are characterized at first glance by their dense curls, which give the fabric volume. To achieve this look, a solid base fabric is first required, usually consisting of cotton or synthetic fibers. Further fibers are then carefully woven, sewn, or glued onto this base. These fibers are then cut, roughed up, and shaped to create the soft pile on the top side. Often, different thicknesses of yarn are used to get as close as possible to the look and feel of real fur. Depending on the desired look, the faux fur is then dyed to achieve the most authentic appearance possible.

Our faux sheepskin fabrics are available in both synthetic fibers like polyester or polyamide and natural fibers like cotton or wool.

The imitations are very soft and ideal for cuddling. Therefore, they are also often used for baby and children's clothing. But even in the adult fashion industry, teddy jackets have experienced a strong revival in recent years. The textured fabric provides good warmth, an effect that is particularly enhanced with faux sheepskins containing real virgin wool fibers.

Care Instructions

The care of a sheepskin depends entirely on the material. In general, the recommendation is to air out imitations with real wool fibers outside and only wash by hand in case of heavy soiling. For synthetic fibers, the faux fur can usually be washed at 30° on the gentle cycle in the washing machine. However, you should first try airing it out to keep the fluffy surface as long as possible. Due to the different compositions, the washing instructions of the respective fabric should be followed.
