Choosing a tablecloth fabric

The choice of tablecloth fabrics is just as wide as their intended use. Whether you prefer a natural linen or cotton tablecloth or a blended fabric, the material options are endless.

If you prefer a wipeable tablecloth that is quick and easy to clean, you can use a coated outdoor fabric, for example. If desired, this can also be used as a highlight in the garden.

For thorough cleaning, boil-proof tablecloth fabrics, usually dyed with Indanthren®, are preferred in the catering industry.

For patterned fabrics, jacquard patternsprinted fabrics or colored fabrics (yarn-dyed fabrics) are classically used. Popular patterns include flowers, ornaments, stripes or checks.

Damask tablecloths with fine patterns are considered particularly elegant, as they are very inconspicuous due to the use of yarns of the same color and only become clearly visible when the light falls at an angle. Damask fabrics are also always a very good choice for tablecloths with a two-tone pattern or in a very plain design.

An important criterion when choosing the right fabric is the width. What is not very important for placemats and table runners is all the more important for a normal tablecloth. We therefore recommend paying particular attention to the appropriate widths so that the fabric can be sewn with an appropriate overhang later on. Take a look at our extra-wide fabrics, which we have in stock for you, especially for tablecloths and floor-length curtains.

Tip: To make the tablecloths non-slip and to protect the table top, a tablecloth carpet pad is often used in the catering industry. You can also find these by the meter from us.
